I can't even launch it. The launcher crashes without fail while it tries to update, usually on about 40mb but sometimes it manages to get to 53.45/53.46mb and then crashes.

Basically it made up it's mind that it'll crash before it even started. I've looked around for ways to fix this, and attempted skipping the launcher alltogether (which of course, isn't possible, that'd be too easy) but nothing works, or it's a steam version specific fix, usually saying stuff like 'make sure your steam name has no special characters in it'. Is anyone else having the same issue, and does anyone klnow a way to fix it?

This problem still happens to me at each update, so i'm adding this reply. At the very least, try using internet explorer in private mode to start the downloads. Everything other browser would stop in the middle of the download. Worse case scenario, the hashes (, etc) on the link i gave are outdated or unique to my account. To access your own, download Fiddler -- a web debugging proxy. Leave that open while you run your GTA launcher, and you'll see similar URLs pop up. Those ones are generated just for you.
